How to choose

Order the sand by the filter design: grading (range in mm or mesh), effective size and uniformity coefficient.
New bed: build from the bottom up, from coarsest to finest grain, levelling each layer before the next.
Before putting the filter into service, backwash until the water runs clear: it removes the fine dust from the charge.
Store the bags covered and on pallets: wet sand weighs more and cakes.

Frequently asked questions

Does it work in a swimming pool filter?

Yes. It is one of the ranges used in pool sand filters. Follow the grading and the charge in kg on the filter label; if it asks for 0.5 to 1.0 mm, use the 18 x 35.

Can I use it in an effluent filter?

Yes, in polishing filters for treated effluent. For effluent with a lot of solids, choose a coarser range (12 x 20) and backwash more often.
