Silica filter sand 18 x 35 – 0.50 to 1.00 mm

FT-AR-18X35

Silica filter sand 18 x 35

0.50 to 1.00 mm

Filter sand for water: quartz and silica by grain size · view all (7)

High-purity silica sand, greyish white, 0.50 to 1.00 mm (18 x 35 mesh), for industrial pressure filters and pretreatment. Free of organic matter and carbonates, it does not change the colour, hardness or pH of the water. Washed, dried, screened and with a batch report.

  • High-purity silica: suited to process water and reverse osmosis and boiler pretreatment
  • Slightly larger grain than 20 x 40: more flow per area in a pressure filter
  • No carbonates: does not raise water hardness
  • Batch report with grading curve
  • 25 kg bags, 1 t big bags or bulk

How to choose

  • Order the sand by the filter design: grading (range in mm or mesh), effective size and uniformity coefficient.
  • New bed: build from the bottom up, from coarsest to finest grain, levelling each layer before the next.
  • Before putting the filter into service, backwash until the water runs clear: it removes the fine dust from the charge.
  • Store the bags covered and on pallets: wet sand weighs more and cakes.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use it in my boiler's pressure filter?

Yes. It is the usual pressure filter charge for feed and make-up water, ahead of the softener or reverse osmosis. Check the grading specified by the filter manufacturer.

Does it work in a swimming pool filter?

Yes: the 0.5 to 1.0 mm range is the one used in most pool sand filters. Follow the charge in kg shown on the filter label.
